Years ago at this time of the year any day in the bustling industrial Chinese city of Shenyang the roads were cluttered with tens of thousands of men and women riding bicycles in a blanket haze of smog which was in fact a dirty fog that the extreme cold air pushed back down nearly to the ground. Untreated raw coal was the fuel. The same applies in Shenyang in 2017 an asian mega city with a population of around 8 million give or take a million up and down as is the norm in the PRC. Smog around the clock day in, day out…

But this is not just what is happening in China, not many decades ago in the heavy woollen districts of CleckHuddersFax a local buzzword for Cleckheaton – Huddersfield – Halifax in the heavy woollen area of North Yorkshire where the main line of work was working in the cotton – wool mills and of course the main source of fuel to power these massive complexes was coal. Plus needless to say there was no fuel emission controls, hence in these towns in Yorkshire were shrouded in smog – fog that often lasted throughout the winter months. So if one says that in some areas China is 50 years behind UK then on that basis it comes as no surprise to find that Shenyang is mired in smog and the air is polluted.

China are at present on a war against pollution but the improvement to date is negligible. But again if one takes CleckHuddersFax as a reference point the fog and smog problems took more than a decade to get under control… Plus technology advanced PRC enclaves enjoying western style lifestyle like Macau aka Macao and Hong Kong still have serious air pollution problems in 2017…

Having worked and lived in the Orient for over 18 years the authorities are aware of all advances in life – technology – health et al in western countries but they always study in depth any new theory and/or methodology, and dependent on the results they make a decision whether to adopt or decline. For example Chinese traditional medicine is so proven and beneficial that it takes something special to be picked up on, as often the traditional solution is more than adequate.
